The McKinsey Institute for Black Economic Mobility defines a set of quality-of-life aspirations and then gathers the results for communities with similar characteristics, including various types of American cities, suburbs, and rural counties. Using this approach, this study shows which of the named environments offer Black residents the best quality of life and opportunities for equity.
