As Black teens and young adults transition into adulthood, employment often becomes an important source of financial support for themselves and their families. This Fresh Look data point explores employment among Black youth ages 16–25, including who is working, how many employed youth are also attending school, and the earnings they contribute to their households. Using data from the American Community Survey, these findings highlight the important role employment plays during the transition to adulthood and offer insights into the economic well-being of Black families across urban, suburban, and rural communities.
